Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I provide my own semen container/box?
No, semen containers and boxers are only meant to be used once, and then disposed of.
  • Can I have multiple doses of semen?
No, we provide single dose syringes to prevent the accidental insemination of other mares.
  • Can I inseminate my mare by myself?
No. Insemination performed by anyone other than a licensed veterinarian voids the 3-year live foal guarantee. Inexperienced individuals are also unlikely to achieve a successful pregnancy.
  • I'm not from Canada, can I still purchase semen for remote insemination?"
Yes, but within reason. We will only sell semen to clients who can reasonably expect to recieve fresh or frozen semen within the viability window of the semen.
  • I've booked a stallion, do I have to buy semen now?"
Our breeding contracts come with a 3-year Live Foal guarantee, which means that you can purchase semen any time you want within those three years, or up until you have a successful pregnancy.

  • Do I need to pay a deposit to buy a horse?
No, the horse will belong to you as soon as we receive payment.
  • Can I put a horse on hold?
Yes. If you need more time for any reason, serious buyers may request a holding contract. Each contract is different based on the circumstances, but it will always require a non-refundable deposit. These deposits count towards the final purchase price, but are not returned if you chose to not purchase the horse.
  • Will you deliver my new horse?
We can. Trailering is an additional cost that is not included with the purchase of a horse.
  • Can I take a horse home to try before I buy?
No. Our insurance will not cover any situation where the horse is not within our control, and it would make it impossible to show the horse to other interested buyers. Serious buyers will be invited to ride here at Maximum Equestrian in our indoor riding arena.
  • Can I have Right of First Refusal?
No, Maximum Equestrian reserves the right to show horses and entertain other offers until a purchase has been completed. We will 'hold' a horse (take it off the market) for a non-refundable deposit.
  • How young can lessons/coaching begin?
Maximum Equestrian will use discretion to offer lessons and coaching to any young rider of 10 years or older. Safety is a priority; we will not unduly risk possibly injury to horse or rider.
  • Do you provide equipment?
We do not provide any personal equipment such as helmets, boots, or breeches. We recommend riders use their own grooming equipment. We do provide all horse equipment such as bridles, saddles and saddle pads.
  • Do you do trail rides?
We do not offer trail rides; Our horses are not trained for it.
  • Can I pet or feed the horses?
We only allow visitors with appointments onto the farm property. Petting and feeding horses is a normal part of horse care, but its best left to the professionals and those under our supervision. We strongly oppose any road-side stops. Please do not throw food into the fields or try to pet the horses through the fence. Some horses are still too young to recieve training and they can act unpredictably, which makes them unsafe. We would feel terrible if anyone was harmed on our property. If you would like to experience horsemanship for yourself, check out Horse Care 101!
  • Can I take pictures on your farm?
Yes, but at our discretion. A shoot that does not require our time and does not interrupt normal farm operations has a higher chance of be approved. Check out our page on photograpy!
