How to Breed a Horse
Welcome !
to the Maximum Equestrian Ltd. 2021 Breeding Program.
Here at Maximum Equestrian, our process follows the services in the flow chart below.
Breeding 101
Here is everything you need to know!
One horse plus one horse equals another horse, right?
While technically correct, there are multiple ways to complete the equation.
Here at Maximum Equestrian, we offer two methods to get your mare pregnant.

On-Site Insemination
You deliver your mare to us. We do all the work!
Maximum Equestrian will do everything it can to ensure the successful impregnation of your mare. While here, your mare will be well cared for, and will receive a great deal of attention.
Before the mare's arrival, we will create a breeding plan with you to determine the services you would like. We can follow one of our all-inclusive breeding programs, or we can create a custom plan that assembles breeding services that fit your unique needs and budget. Once your mare arrives, we follow this plan to give your mare the best chance at getting pregnant. Both live cover and artificial insemination are on offer.
Live cover means your mare is placed into a field with the stallion to facilitate a pregnancy the natural way.
Artificial insemination means we collect semen from a stallion and insert it into the mare using specialized tools.

Remote Insemination
At your request, we collect, then mail you semen. Your vet inseminates your mare.
While this method is cost effective and allows you to keep your mare at home, Its success depends on many variables out of our control. Though we guarantee the viability of the semen as it leaves the farm, that guarantee does not extend beyond our property line. Regardless, we do make every effort to ensure semen remains viable.
To begin, a booking and stud fee reserve your right to breed to one of our stallions. Currently, only Far West is providing remote insemination (fresh and frozen).
You or your vet will need to evaluate your mare to determine its heat cycle. This determines when you will need the semen. We recommend observing multiple heat cycles prior to insemination. Once the heat cycle is determined, you can let us know when you will want the semen to arrive. Notice given less than 48 hours before expected semen delivery will incur a rush fee, so we encourage close collaboration with your veterinarian.
We will discuss the best way to get the semen to you beforehand - making sure that it is logistically possible for the semen to reach you without spoiling.
Once your semen arrives, your vet will inseminate the mare and perform any follow up care that you may want.
